Tillman Military Scholar Midwest Regional Gathering
Flint, Michigan October 26-28
Tillman Military Scholars, Pat Tillman Foundation staff and University Partner contacts from throughout the Midwest U.S. will unite at the Tillman Military Scholar Midwest Regional Gathering in Flint, Michigan this October.
This event is a three day gathering hosted to build and strengthen the Tillman Community, teach leadership and job skills to the Tillman Military Scholars, make a sustainable impact through service in a local community and increase awareness of the leadership roles veterans and military families play in today’s world.

Friday, October 26
Evening Welcome Dinner
Welcome remarks by Dr. Gerard Voland, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, UM-Flint and Major General Michael R. Lehnert.
Saturday, October 27
Morning Base Camp Challenge Center
A team building experience through which the Scholars focus on their personal leadership strengths and styles. This is an active exercise that will facilitate community building among the Scholars throughout the entire weekend.
Afternoon Day of Service (Carriage Town Ministry Shelter)
Scholars will be serving the Carriage Town Ministry Veteran and Family Shelter by working on a building improvement project and in the donation center – sorting, organizing, hanging and matching donations.
Evening Dinner at Ross House with UM-Flint Chancellor Ruth J. Pearson
Sunday, October 28
Morning Workshop: General Michael R. Lehnert
General Lehnert, a proven leader, will explore his leadership journey with the Tillman Military Scholars. He’ll discuss his military service, his clean energy and public service efforts and lessons he has learned through from his career to inspire what it is the Scholars hope to achieve individually and collectively in making an impact on this nation.
Afternoon Detroit Lions Vs. Seattle Seahawks
Evening Tour of Historic and Burgeoning Detroit Arts District, Fowling and Closing Dinner
