Bank of America Chicago Marathon - 10 | 7 | 12
The 34th Annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon was held Sunday, October 9, 2011. The event saw 35,628 runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries hit the streets to cover 26.2 miles. Noted as one of the five “World Marathon Majors” along with Berlin, Boston, London and New York, the event started and finished in Chicago’s Grant Park. The Pat Tillman Foundation is proud to announce that all 15 inaugural Team Tillman Chicago members crossed the finish line and together raised over $32,000 to support the Tillman Military Scholars program. Marine Corps Marathon - 10 | 28 | 12
In its long history, the Marine Corps Marathon has not only made a name for itself in sheer size as the fifth largest U.S. Marathon and ninth in the world, but stands as the largest marathon in the world that doesn’t offer prize money, earning its nickname, “The People’s Marathon.” The course showcases the best of Arlington, VA and the nation’s capital. Registration for the 36th annual Marine Corps Marathon sold out in just over 23 hours. On Sunday, October 30th, 2011 the Pat Tillman Foundation was represented by 5 Team Tillman DC members, each successfully conquering the course and together raised over $16,000 to support veterans and military spouses. ING New York City Marathon – 11 | 4 | 12
For the fifth consecutive year Team Tillman was invited to participat in the New York Road Runners Charity Program – receiving 40 race entries to the ING New York City Marathon. The 42nd running of the ING New York City Marathon was held Sunday, November 6, 2011. One of the world’s largest and most popular marathons, the course covers all five boroughs of New York City, beginning on Staten Island and finishing outside Tavern on the Green in Central Park, Manhattan. The Pat Tillman Foundation is proud to announce that all 40 members of TTNY11 completed the marathon and together secured over $200,000 in donations to support the Tillman Military Scholars program. Through the New York Road Runners Charity Program, charity partners raised over $33.8 million to support a wide-range of causes. In return for raising $4240, symbolic of Pat’s NCAA & NFL football jersey numbers, Team Tillman New York members receive guaranteed entry to participate in the ING New York City Marathon, invitations to exclusive team events and gear provided by Under Armour® the official apparel provider of Team Tillman.
