Tabitha Smith, Marine Corps Spouse

Tabitha’s life plan took a new path when Stephen, her future husband, lost his leg in Ramadi in 2006. The war and her husband’s physical, mental and emotional wounds have resulted in the most difficult challenges of her life. Stephen’s injury was life-changing for Tabitha and taught her humility and instilled in her a sense of service.

Stephen and Tabitha married in 2008 and she is drawing upon her husband’s sacrifice to position herself to help others as a nurse.

Tabitha volunteers with Stephen’s unit assisting the Family Readiness Officer with Operation Care Packages to send to deployed troops. She also volunteers and participates in events with the Hope for the Warriors organization to show her gratitude for what they have done for her husband.

Stephen and Tabitha also participate and volunteer with the Marine Corps Marathon as a part of Team Jordan Haerter, KIA on April 22, 2008.

She will obtain a bachelor’s in nursing to further her career and open doors in the medical field, either in psychiatric nursing or as a postpartum lactation consultant. Perhaps her greatest asset is her positive outlook on life, despite having experienced her share of tragedy.
