Paul Flynn is a second generation Mexican American raised in a single parent household. Despite any social biases, he has never let any of these facts stand in the way of his ambitions and dreams.
Paul joined the Air Force in 2004 and during that time set his sites on achieving a higher education, even though many of his friends and family have never done so. His service taught him how to have discipline and tenacity. Education has augmented these values and fostered more, such as compassion and understanding.
Paul is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology at the University of Maryland and upon graduation plans to continue his education at graduate school for archaeology. His career ambition is to return to work for the government identifying MIA/POW.
Paul feels as an archaeologist it will be his responsibility to record the past for historical preservation. As a veteran he feels he owes those who did not return the same honor. Eventually, Paul plans to pursue a doctoral degree and teach at the university level.
