Staff Sergeant Dennis Robinson gave up entering college immediately after high school to enlist because he felt a need to serve his country. During his 7-year career in the U.S. Army, Dennis deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan, exercising leadership both at home and in combat zones. Dennis is the epitome of a servicemember who has the desire to give back and continue their service post-military. Upon retiring from the Army, Dennis enrolled at the University of Maryland where he is currently pursuing a dual degree at the Robert H. Smith School of Business and the School of Law.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Dennis knew early on that he would find some way to give back to his hometown. The same need to serve that led him to the Army has now been combined with his intense passion for his native city and after graduation in spring 2010 Dennis plans to create a community development corporation for the blue-collar Morrell Park neighborhood in which he grew up in order to revitalize and improve the quality of living there.
Dennis co-founded the nonprofit The 6th Branch with fellow TMS Rich Blake, whose mission is to utilize the leadership and organizational skills of military veterans to execute aggressive community service initiatives at the local level.
