Coming from a family with a long and proud history of military service, it is no surprise that Chad is a 12-year veteran of three branches of service: Navy, Army National Guard and currently, Air National Guard. And, his passion and zest for the military inspired his wife to enlist four years ago.
Chad is completing his first year in Arizona State’s MSW program. His long-term goals are to directly commission into either the Army or Air Force Health Services Programs as a licensed social worker and finish out his military career on active duty while addressing those afflicted with PTS, unresolved trauma and traumatic brain injuries. He is concerned with rising suicide rates as a result of unresolved or recurrent trauma exposures and hopes his own military experiences can help him establish a good rapport with afflicted parties.
He sees one constant in his life: military service. Chad is an active member of an effort called Vets4Vets and is working to expand, grow and cultivate new partnerships in Arizona. He works with the Arizona Department of Corrections and Maricopa County Veteran’s Drug Court programs with the aim of improving coping skills and serving as a mentor/role model to individuals in the program.
