Second Lieutenant Grey Leonard is the son of a rich military lineage. One grandfather was in the Navy, the other was in the Marine Corps. His father was in the Army and his brother is in the Air Force. Grey graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2008 with a pilot slot at Laughlin AFB, Texas.
Despite near impeccable health during his tenure at the Academy, Grey became ill immediately after graduation and was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, an autoimmune gastrointestinal disorder. The subsequent year was dominated by medical review boards which led to Grey’s medical, honorable discharge from service.
Despite this radical career change, Grey adopted the goal of becoming a doctor. His own health misfortunes and a desire to serve have fueled his two year long pursuit of classes, applications, tests and finally an acceptance to the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine. Grey will begin classes this fall with the desire to become a well rounded doctor able to provide excellent healthcare to those in need.
