Petty Officer Third Class Meghan Lucas

Petty Officer Third Class Meghan Lucas graduated high school at age 16 and was already living on her own. She was working two jobs to make ends meet, when she was struck with an overwhelming feeling that she needed to make a change and find a greater purpose. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and a few months later she left for boot camp.

The Navy changed her life for the better. It taught her appreciation, acceptance, patience, tolerance, how to manage money and support herself efficiently. The Navy also taught her she was able to do anything; even work on a medical evacuation MH-60S in Kuwait and Iraq.

Meghan is presently working towards a degree in international relations and political science. She knows an education will further assist her in utilizing the knowledge and wisdom gained while serving in the U.S. Navy.

While in service she learned quickly that more points of view on an issue create a more creative and sustainable solution. Meghan plans on working within the U.S. government to assist and ensure collaboration in a global context; creating a more peaceful and cooperative world for all.
