A husband and father who continues his dedication to country as part of the Department of Defense as a civilian, Petty Officer Second Class Dan Hardisty participated in two deployments to the Arabian Gulf, serving as a communications technician. Dan served aboard the USS Rainier for three years before being stationed in Annapolis, Maryland.
After six years in the Navy, Dan went to work for Sprint Nextel and attended community college before transferring to the University of Maryland in College Park where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in government and politics. As a founding member of the Terp Veterans organization on campus, Dan helped raise awareness in the campus community about the veteran student community. He is proud serve the Terp community alongside other veterans who understand the opportunities and challenges that face veterans who attend school either after they have left the military, or in between deployments.
While in school, Dan works part time with The Home Depot and has an internship with the National Security Agency. Upon graduation, Dan would like to work for the NSA in the area of intelligence.
