Nicole Hart, Army Spouse

Nicole Hart married her childhood sweetheart, Sergeant David J. Hart, and was living out a fairy-tale. That is, until 2008, when a military wife’s worst nightmare became a reality. “We regret to inform you that your husband, Sgt. David Hart, was killed,” was the introduction to a life never wished upon another. Nicole became a military widow at the age of 22.

Knowing life would never be the same again, she embraced a love stronger than death and began to work in a new community – young military widows. While volunteering for a nonprofit geared towards the new generation of military widows, Nicole realized the need of a “voice” for those who lack the strength to speak.

Inspired by her journey with David and by the love stories of military widows alike, Nicole enrolled into The Brooks Institute to pursue her bachelor’s degree in fine art and photography. With an education in visual arts she will obtain the skills necessary to further the reach to those hurting not only in her community but around the world.
