Major Alex Brown

Inspired by his father and his father’s friends, Alex always had the dream of attending a service academy. His father attended the U.S. Air Force Academy and flew C-130s in Vietnam, and Alex says his father was his hero growing up. But, in high school, Alex was recruited to play lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University, one of the nation’s top D1 lacrosse programs. He took advantage of the opportunity, but also enrolled in the Army ROTC program at Johns Hopkins.

After graduating, he enlisted in the Army and was commissioned as a second lieutenant just before the attacks of 9/11. He entered flight school and flew the Apache Attack Helicopter for four years, culminating in a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan. He was involved in a tragic shoot-down on June 28, 2005, which sparked in him the resolve to become a Green Beret.

After returning from that deployment, he was selected for the Special Forces and earned his Green Beret. Alex led two teams of Green Berets during operations in Iraq and Africa; what he calls “the most influential experience of his life.”

Alex says his military service was the most defining period of his life and he wants to give back to the community by using his degree from Georgetown to launch a business that caters to an entirely military and veteran market.
