A dependent of a career Army Sergeant who has served in Iraq and was just redeployed, Lavisha McClarin comes from a family with a long history of military service, and herself was a member of JROTC.

In addition to coming from a family that places service as an important goal in life, Lavisha’s family also places education at that same level. Along with Lavisha, both of her parents and her sister are also all currently working toward college degrees.
Lavisha has been shaped by military values and believes in giving back to the community, and does so through through working with children of deployed military families and mentoring at-risk elementary students.
