First Lieutenant Shelly Burgoyne

Shelly Burgoyne is a mother, the wife of an active duty Army Officer and a former Army officer and combat veteran who served two tours in Iraq, logging over 85 re-supply combat convoys.

As the granddaughter of a WWII veteran and former prisoner of war (Japan), First Lieutenant Shelly Burgoyne’s desire to serve started early, but it wasn’t until after college that she found her Army calling. She enthusiastically enlisted in the Army and was later commissioned through the University of Arizona ROTC Program. Shelly quickly finished her training as a logistical officer and was immediately deployed as a
platoon leader in Iraq.

With a desire to continue her service in a different role, Shelly recently completed her Master’s degree in public policy at the University of Maryland’s premier Executive Program. She currently lives in San Antonio where she is awaiting assignment for the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.
