After graduation from high school and in search for adventure, Corporal Jeb Williams joined the Marine Corps as a combat correspondent. Among other deployments, Jeb’s most exciting time was during a deployment to Russia to conduct humanitarian exercises, the first such joint work between the U.S. and Russia since WWII.
After leaving the service, Jeb returned home to Arkansas where, a few years later, he met his beautiful wife, Jennifer, and started their family with three children: Sydra, Wulfand and Willow. It is back in Arkansas where Jeb also met fellow Tillman Military Scholar, Air Force Senior Airman Emile Phaneuf, and jointly provoked a change at the University of Arkansas to become a more military-friendly institution. In helping form a student organization, Military Past and Present On Campus, Jeb recruited current or former servicemembers to this cause.
With their newly founded coalition, Emile and Jeb pressed the issue of services, scholarships and support for military members on campus. Eventually, this led to the creation of a campus wide veterans’ task force and the establishment of a veterans’ resource center. Aside from these endeavors, Jeb is pursuing a degree in business.
