Captain Socrates Rosenfeld

Socrates is not one to be underestimated or doubted. So after being questioned for his lack of drive most of his life, he enrolled in the U.S. Military Academy at West Point to prove his mettle. After earning his commission, he flew Apache Longbow attack helicopters and went on to become an Army Ranger.

During a deployment to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Socrates became a company commander and air mission commander, and turned an underperforming company into the best in the brigade. He earned a Bronze Star and was honored by Bradley-Morris, Inc. as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Military Class for 2011.

He had several defining moments during his service, including losing his best friend and roommate who was killed in action in 2006. Socrates also witnessed the plight of Middle-Eastern families that, out of poverty and desperation, had to accept funding from violent fanatic groups in return for armed service in order to feed their families.

His goal is to bring peace to the dark corners of the world through innovative business initiatives, creating new opportunities for those lured into violence and terrorism. With experience working for the Grameen Bank, he plans to create a microfinance institution to serve areas as a peaceful alternative to the terrorist groups that fund violence.
