Captain Lindsey Melki

Lindsey grew up in a lower middle-class, but tight-knit family, that believed in family, empathy, respect, loyalty, selflessness, gratitude and passion for humanity. It was these qualities that instilled in her a desire to give back and serve others.

As Lindsey began to explore college options, she encountered an instructor while attending Girls State. The instructor was a cadet at the United States Military Academy who inspired her to enroll at West Point herself. Lindsey spent four years there, followed by 7 years of active duty, including time as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot. She earned numerous commendations during deployments to the Korean Conflict and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Throughout her service, she immersed herself in learning about other cultures while spending time in Korea, Iraq and Mexico. Those experiences gave Lindsey a first-hand look at the relationship between a country’s standard of living and its contributions to the world.

Upon concluding her studies at NYU, she plans to enter the political arena to affect lasting changes through policy. She looks forward to embarking on having an impact on humanity, in economic development and national security policy.
