Captain James Davis

Captain James Davis learned the value of hard work as a young man by watching his father, a contractor, take seemingly useless, solitary objects such as lumber, nails and endless variety of PVC fittings and craft them into something not only useful, but beneficial. It was then that James was introduced to his passion – building.

After graduating from West Point, James served in Iraq as an engineer construction officer building patrol bases for American soldiers and supervising local Iraqi construction projects. He watched joy overcome those who were given hot water or a roof over their heads for the first time. James realized then that he could use his skills to build a better world for others.

More recently, he served as a company commander, training 1,000 new recruits annually in basic combat training. James will now take his technical competence and leadership ability to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) while pursuing a master’s of engineering degree in high performance structures. He plans to focus his next career in sustainable design, in an effort to build a smarter, more environmentally friendly America. Engineering is a profession dedicated to advancing public welfare and James is well prepared to be a leader in the engineer community.
