Captain David Dixon

As a college student at Texas A&M, David was accepted to an internship working in the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon. It was that summer in Washington D.C., and subsequent mentoring from CIA legend Jim Olson, that solidified his desire to join the Marine Corps and serve the Constitution of the United States. After graduating from A&M, David went to Officer Candidate School and eventually became an AH-1W SuperCobra pilot. 

As a Cobra pilot, David completed two tours in Iraq and two flying tours aboard Navy ships (USS Boxer and USS Essex). He says the Marines he served with and served under during his time in Iraq were the greatest honor of his professional life. These lifelong friendships that David has built with his brothers-in-arms are what he values most from his 10 years in the military. 

David also has many interests outside the cockpit. David regularly volunteers with the Choctaw Nation where he mentors young college students who desire careers in public service. He also is involved in his local church where he works with disabled students. An avid runner, David was featured in several national newspapers for completing the Great Wall of China Marathon in 2009.

As a PhD student studying Political Science at Georgetown, David hopes to bring knowledge about policy making in the federal government back to the Marine Corps. In 2012, David married the love of his life, who is also a graduate student at Georgetown, and the two live in Northern Virginia.
