Captain Cameron McCoy

Cameron McCoy grew up in Washington, D.C., enlisted in the Marine Corps and later received a commission after attending Brigham Young University. He is a first generation servicemember and the only member of his family to serve in the Marine Corps.

Since receiving a commission in the Marine Corps in 2002, Cameron served as a company commander at the School of Infantry-East, Jacksonville, NC, and completed three combat tours in Iraq with the first marine division as a rifle platoon commander and rifle and weapons company executive officer.

Currently at Texas A&M University, Cameron is pursuing a Master’s degree in 20th century U.S. military history. His plans are to further educate the next generation of service academy graduates through his experiences as a Marine Corps infantry officer and professor as he feels this will provide the nation with well-rounded civic and military officers who can educate and lead future generations more effectively.

Cameron has learned through his years of Marine Corps service that there is no line between personal and professional actions. He has incorporated this philosophy as a graduate student in pursuit of advanced education in the same manner as he did as an active duty Marine. He treats his course of study with the professionalism it deserves, and while embedded in academia, still finds time to reach out to the local community as a Blue and Gold Officer for the U.S. Naval Academy.
