Team Tillman Raises Over $100,000 to Benefit Leadership Through Action™ Initiative

San Jose,CA. (January 30, 2006) – The Pat Tillman Foundation announced today that Team Tillman raised over $100,000 during the five short months of the 2005-2006 National Football League (NFL) season.

Leading the way for Team Tillman were Jake Plummer and Derek Smith.  Plummer had a career year leading the Denver Broncos to the AFC Championship Game, scoring 18 touchdowns raising $18,000 for the foundation.  Smith had another standout year with the San Francisco 49ers with 163 tackles, totaling a donation of over $16,000.

One of the important aspects of Team Tillman is "The 12th Man," where everyday fans can pledge a donation for their favorite player, team or for their own personal achievements.  Of the $100,000 earned, nearly $25,000 was raised by "The 12th Man."

Team Tillman recruits professional athletes to pledge donations for their on-field achievements. The mission of Team Tillman is to help the Pat Tillman Foundation secure Pat's passionate legacy of action by raising awareness and funds for the Leadership Through Action™ Initiative. The team was formed at the beginning of the 2005-2006 NFL season and quickly jumped from the NFL to include players from Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League.
