As an undergraduate at the University of Colorado, Mark Arnoldy has committed to help eliminate the devastation that is malnutrition in Nepal. Using the necessary machinery and materials purchased with his grant award, Mark is creating a sustainable social enterprise of producing fortified peanut butter locally in Nepal to be used to treat malnourished children.
As malnutrition is the underlying cause of 70% of deaths under the age of five in Nepal, Mark aims to provide a significant, stable supply of high quality ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to prevent these deaths. In addition to supplying RUTF to these children, the Nepal NUTrition Project will be supporting the local economy through the agriculture development generated in the production of the peanut butter.
